Baldwin County VOAD is a humanitarian association of independent voluntary and secular organizations who may be active in all phases of disaster. Its mission is to foster efficient, coordinated service delivery to people affected by disaster, while eliminating unnecessary duplication of effort, through cooperation in the four phases of disaster: preparation, response, recovery and mitigation.
Baldwin County VOAD is a member of the Alabama VOAD and is committed to serving the citizens of Baldwin County, Alabama.
The 2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season has begun. As of June 2, 2009, expert forecasters are calling for an average hurricane season. They predict eleven named storms, five hurricanes and, of those five, two major hurricanes are predicted. A major hurricane is a Category Three or higher.
Preparations for a storm, or any other major disaster, should begin now. The American Red Cross offers suggestions on how to prepare using a disaster preparedness kit.
